Why do we talk about achieving more balance in our lives as if it is some big myth, something no one can actually achieve?

One of my Gifts of Illness was learning how to create more balance in my life. Life balance is something that most people just don’t believe in.
When I hear people telling us that we should not expect to achieve balance in our lives because it does not exist, it literally makes my skin crawl. It was proclamations like this, from people I looked up to and respected, that lead me to believe work-life balance was something I just could not have.
But over the last decade, I have read, spoken, and studied, anything that could give me more insight into learning how to create a sense of balance and wellbeing so I could live more deliberately to create a life I felt was worth living.
A life in which you experience bliss more often and bitterness much less. A life in which you feel appreciated and never insignificant. Valued and never unworthy of good fortune. Heard and never ignored. Respected and never neglected. Empowered and never powerless. And you overcome fear with love.
When you live in a way that focuses on what you crave, you live with purpose and calm the chaos that can consume your days.
Now, does this mean I’ve mastered it and never screwed up? Yes, yes of course it does. LOL. Just kidding, of course not, I’m not perfect and I screw this up all the time.
But what this does mean for me is that I notice pretty quickly when I’m off balance and address it quickly.
Work-life balance is not about equality, it’s about equity.
While we all may crave the same things that bring an abundance of health, wealth, and happiness, we crave and need them in differing amounts. Invest your energy in creating what you crave most, as it is what will lead you to feeling like you’re living your best life.
Work-life balance doesn’t look the same for everyone, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. What’s important to realize is that the work-life balance you crave is specific to you, like an imprint. It doesn’t look like anyone else’s, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist or that you can’t achieve it.
With purpose, you can create more work-life balance with ease.
There are 5 pillars, or areas of our life that support our desire for work-life balance. These 5 areas of our lives, after our basic needs, are those we look to for a sense of quality about the life we are living and to achieve the abundance of health, wealth, and happiness for which we strive.
By getting rid of the things that distract us from what really matters, we can participate in a way of living that feels good and we immensely enjoy our days.
That’s what The Pillars do. They help you live in a way that allows you to calm the chaos, so you stop feeling like you’re just getting through the day, week, or your life.
