Inspiration and Motivation

Imagine with me for a moment…

You have a big dream, and you’ve come to a point in your life where it is time to focus on you and what you want. Life is finally set up for you to go for it.  So, you do. You put your big dream front and center.

Now, to accomplish your big goal, you take focused action on your success tasks, one step at a time you are getting closer to making it happen. Excited by your goal, you work tirelessly.  Knocking tasks off your list two at a time at what feels like lightening speed.

However, within a couple of weeks, a few objections, and working through what seemed like insurmountable barriers, you run out of steam.

At a dead stop, completely depleted, you decide to shelf your dream. After weeks or months of effort invested, the dream still haven’t happened. It’s just not the right time. Perhaps it will never be. Your dream will have to wait to see the light of day, again.

Now I ask you, were you inspired or motivated as you first worked through your goal?

The answer to this question makes all the difference in what the journey to accomplish your goal feels like.  It can feel difficult or it can feel delightful.  It’s all in the approach.

Inspiration

Inspiration comes from a feeling deep inside when you are called to do something. The word inspiration means to be in spirit.  Inspiration seems to carry you through the process of achieving the goal, and personal success, you desire.

Motivation

While, motivation comes from a feeling you should do something. Motivation requires much more will, and hence energy, as you manage your to do list as exhaustion and worry inevitably take over.

Both inspiration and motivation can be your allies in creating a life worth living, as you define it.

What’s The Difference

Inspiration comes from a feeling deep inside when you are called to do something. The word inspiration means to be in spirit.  Inspiration seems to carry you through the process of achieving the goal, or the personal success you desire. When you’re inspired, you will feel perfectly aligned and natural as you take action towards achieving your dreams.

Motivation comes from a feeling you should do something. It requires much more will as you manage your to do list as exhaustion and worry inevitably take over. When you are motivated you feel your challenges are limitless and like you will never overcome them.

Both inspiration and motivation are your allies in creating a life worth living, whatever that means for you.

Inspiration and Motivation | 3 Ways to Get Inspired

Know that things can be good and easy.

Every time I turn around someone else is telling me that everything has gone to the crapper, but it’s okay because “that’s the way it is, and they are fine.”

I get it, I do. But, why do we accept this? Why do we accept that “this is the way it is?”

Know things are not the way they are, they are the way you perceive them to be.

Take my current situation.  When on went on vacation on July 23rd all was good in my world.  But on July 24th, while in Chicago seeing my family, I noticed my father’s now known to be cancerous tumor.  Since that time, I have been back and forth to and from Chicago to and from Florida, Tennessee, and New York.

To say this is a challenging time is an understatement.  But I have a choice.  I can look at this through eyes of fear, focused with the fact that I haven’t been home for almost 2 months.  Or I can look at this through eyes of love, focused on my purpose to help my father and mother.

While both are my reality, I can choose what I focus on. I choose what makes me feel confident and full as I invest everything, I have in helping my mother and father heal from this medical crisis with grace.

You see, everything is about perception and the good thing about that is that you can choose how you want to perceive things.

Love and fear both exist. You get to choose your perception.

I choose love because love makes me feel like this is all worthwhile.

I choose to hold on to the good.

I choose to focus on the ease.

Does that mean everything is good?  No.

Does that mean that things are always easy? No.

Does that mean I choose to focus on the good and ease? Yes, absolutely.

Why? Because that’s all that matters – how you feel.
