Stress is something we all experience.  There’s nothing we can do about it.  Life stops for no one and either you learn to live with it, or it consumes your life.

When do we think about how stress truly impacts our life?  It raises our blood pressure and our chances of getting type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

When do we think about how stress impacts those around us? Especially our family, when we don’t have the wherewithal to be present for the people who matter to use most.

When do we take back control of our stressors and learn some cool and easy technologies to quickly relieve stress?

I say this is that time, and here is one of my favorite ways to reset if I get stressed out.

Quickly Relieve Stress with Self-Hypnosis

Self-hypnosis is a fantastic way to reduce stress and calm the chaos. This is very similar to meditating.  The major difference is that mediation is used to clear the mind and self-hypnosis is used to achieve a goal.

In self-hypnosis, we focus on achieving a specific outcome, such as reducing stress, building self-confidence, releasing weight.

Step 1 | Prepare.  Find a quiet place you can sit for 20 minutes. Set two timers on your device.  One for 20 minutes and one for 15 minutes.

Step 2 | Relax. A huge factor in the success of self-hypnosis: Your level of relaxation. If you’re wearing any uncomfortable clothing let’s loosen and unbutton it. You must get as comfortable as possible to relieve stress.

Step 3 | Breathe. Start your timers. Sitting comfortably, close your eyes and focus on your breath.  Slow it down.  Breathe deep. Calm, deep, and steady.  Continue this cycle of breath throughout this session. Once you are relaxed, count backward from 10. As you count down, imagine you are stepping deeper and deeper into a heavy relaxed state. Feel each part of your body heavy. First your head and work your way down.  End with the tips of your toes.

Step 4 | Focus. Focus on letting go of your stress and stressors. Find where in your body you are holding stress. Lay your hand where you feel your stress. Breath in and out as you say to yourself, “I let this go. It is in the release I feel peace.”

If your mind drifts or rapid thoughts that bring on stress invade your Focus, let them float out the same way it floated in.  Don’t hold on to it.  Don’t add on to it.  Let it go.

Continue focusing on letting go of your stress and stressors until the 15-minute timer rings.

When the timer rings, it is time to return to the present. Start by counting backward from 5 to 1, slowly, telling yourself when you get to 1, you will emerge, feeling refreshed and renewed.

Use this simple self-hypnosis technique to relieve stress and reset for more vibrant days.
