Does the stress of your success make you feel exhausted, grumpy and overwhelmed?
The stress of success is one of those bittersweet experiences we all go through. We work hard to get somewhere, and when we get there, we are all beaten up and in deep need of some quality “Me Time” to enjoy more of our success.
How Stress Affects You
Stress keeps us from truly enjoying what we accomplish. Stress bleeds into our every day and most people don’t realize when they are stressed.
Do you run off to the restroom frequently? That’s stress.
Do you have stomach problems? That’s stress too.
Do you have trouble sleeping? Yup, that’s stress too.
Do you have frequent mood swings, insomnia, trouble making decisions, unexplained “allergy” attacks, heartburn, headaches, or diminished sexual desire (yikes)?
These are all common signs and symptoms of stress and left unaddressed these can trigger chronic and deadly illnesses.
Women experience more physical signs of stress than men. It’s not because they don’t experience the same amount of stress women do, it’s because they handle it better.
As you know, stress is not going anywhere and in and of itself, it is not the problem. How we deal with stress is the problem.
We work it out, we blow it out and let it simmer, but what we must do if we hope to live a life filled with an abundance of health, wealth, and happiness, is relieve stress.
Create a “Me Time” Policy to Relieve Stress
Create your “Me Time” Policy and schedule your first day of dedicated Me Time to relieve stress and stop it from causing disease in your life.
Don’t create excuses in defense of your misery caused by the Effects of Stress. Me Time is non-negotiable, and the crazier your life is, the more Me Time is required.
About 6 years ago I instituted a dedicated “Me Time” Policy. Everyone in my home knows when “Me Time” is scheduled and understands this is my dedicated time to relax, rejuvenate and rejoice so I can show up for them in a way that honors my love for them and myself.
I take 15 minutes a day, 2 hours on Sunday, a 6-hour day per month (usually a Saturday) and 2 full days every 6 months. During these times I do what nourishes me, and I give myself permission to give into what I want and feels right from a higher and loving perspective, at that time. Sometimes I lay in bed, read and sleep. Other times I go out with the girls or go away with my husband or I’ll attend a retreat on my own.
I’d love to know what you would do with 2 full days to relieve stress, nourish, and rejuvenate your body, mind, and soul? I’d love to know. Share your dream “Me Time” scenario, ah-has, comments, questions, and thoughts in the comment section below or email me at Carmen@WellbeingMessenger.com.
